Mosaic Law Educational Program Mission Statement
The Mosaic Law Congregation's Educational Programs are dedicated to creating a Jewish educational and experimental environment for living Judaism. As member of United Synagogues of America, we are also dedicated to the ideals of the conservative movement. It is our objective to create a warm, supportive and loving atmosphere for students of all ages.
It is our hope that:
Our students will study directly from primary sources and learn about the evolution of Jewish thought from a historical perspective as well as from modern commentaries;
Our students will develop skills for Jewish living;
Our classes will provide opportunities for students to expand their knowledge; and
Our educational programs and staff involve parents in the partnership of Jewish Education.
Our educational programs include both formal and informal educational settings. The classes we offer include: individualized Hebrew levels, classes assigned by grade, youth groups, early childhood education, family education, and extended Shabbat and holiday services and activities.
Through learning and experiencing Judaism as a partnership between home and school, we hope our students will:
Build self-esteem and a positive self-image;
Develop a love and knowledge of Torah and tradition;
Obtain skills in everyday Jewish living;
Involve themselves and their families in celebrating and living Judaism;
Be familiar with primary Jewish sources and the historical context of the development of Judaism;
and
Develop a sense of belonging to the Mosaic Law Congregation, the Jewish Community of Sacramento, and the Jewish people as a whole.
