Mosaic Law Curriculum Guide
Our 3rd Grade - Kitah Gimel class meets on Sundays, 9:30am to 12:15pm and Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:15pm to 6:15pm
This is the year that students make the transition from informal, affective learning (on Sundays only) to a more rigorous, academic curriculum three days a week. The course of study is designed to take advantage of the natural curiosity and creativity of the eight-year-old. As students become more verbal about their feelings and gain a more mature sense of social relationships, they begin to explore relationships between people and God using the Bible and Siddur.
Third graders focus on “Israel, Hebrew & Me”.
Goals of the Class:
- Writing script letters in Hebrew;
- Incorporate and integrate Hebrew words into student vocabulary, building upon vocabulary units taught in the second grade;
- Develop and understand the moral and ethical foundations of Judaism;
- Learn the structure and months of the Jewish calendar;
- Study Bible stories from creation to Moses;
- Develop a sense of Kavannah - an approach to prayer and avenues for positive prayer experiences;
