Senior Programs

Part of my current focus is to create meaningful Senior Programming here at MLC.  I want the shul be a place that reflects our Seniors’ interests and priorities.  To this end, I have formed a Senior Committee (I call it the “Golden Committee”) whose function is to evaluate MLC’s current “senior situation” and to brainstorm areas for growth.  The group has come up with a variety of ideas, including both educational and social venues.

With enhancing our Golden Programs in mind, I have put together a six-month series of Senior programs.  The goal of the Golden Programs will be to offer social and educational programs to our Senior Community.  The Golden Programs will be happen during the day, and will be low cost.  Our programs will be in addition to the monthly Leisure League programs, which are currently well attended.  This being the case, the Golden Programs will offer our Seniors a second opportunity to gather during the course of the month.   In June, we will assess the Golden Programs, and use our findings to create additional programming for the rest of the year.  This 6 month series will help determine:  1) types of programs that appeal to the Senior community, 2) whether two programs per month are sufficient, 3) the role of “cost” on program participation.
